Prove a PDF report is unaltered

Every PDF export carries a document ID. Anyone — a solicitor, a mediator, a court — can check a copy is exactly the file De Kind issued.

Every PDF report you export from Reports & Export carries a document ID in its footer, like DK-7F3K-92QD. When the file is created, De Kind records a fingerprint of those exact bytes against that ID.

How someone checks a copy

  1. Go to dekind.app/verify. No account is needed.
  2. Choose the PDF. Optionally type the document ID from its footer.
  3. Click Check this file.

What the answers mean

  • Verified — unaltered. The file is exactly the export De Kind issued, with the date it was issued.
  • This file has been changed. The document ID is real, but this copy is not that file: it has been edited, re-saved, or printed to a new PDF. Ask for the original file.
  • No match. De Kind has no record of this file (or that ID). It may be altered, or not a De Kind export.

Printing to paper and scanning, or “printing to PDF”, always makes a new file, so keep and share the original download. For solicitors and courts, For professionals explains what a report contains and what it deliberately leaves out.

Your privacy

The check runs on the visitor's own device: only the file's fingerprint is sent to De Kind, never the report. The answer shows only the document ID and when it was issued — never who you are, your household, or anything in the report. De Kind stores the ID, the fingerprint and the date for each export, and no report content.
